Sunflower Books: are books in stock?

Availability
We often receive telephone calls from Landscapes users and retailers asking us what is the position regarding availability of a particular title. Because retailers are sometimes unsure of when a new edition is imminent or of the true position regarding availability, we have introduced this page which gives up-to-the-minute details of availability of every book we currently publish. (If a book is not listed here it is out of print or otherwise definitely not available.) The correct ISBN (standard book ordering number) and edition details (for the English language version) are shown. "Readily available" means that the book is in stock at our distributors (Portfolio Books Ltd - orders fulfilled by GBS) and will normally also be available at main wholesalers (Bertrams, Gardners, THE, etc.) so can be quickly obtained by any bookseller if they do not have it in stock. Alternatively, any book may be ordered direct from Sunflower Books using the online or other options shown on this web site. (Sunflower online orders are processed for us by The Map Shop at Upton upon Severn but you can also contact the Map Shop to place orders by telephone: 0800 085 4080). The Map Shop always holds stock of all our publications listed below except where shown as out of print. Note that this page refers to UK availability. Overseas distributors may be temporarily out of stock of a particular book, but if it is listed here as "readily available" there should be nothing to stop them obtaining supplies. For availability of language versions other than English, please refer to the language versions page.

We are sometimes asked why don't we make sure that we keep every title in print. There are many reasons why a book may become temporarily out of print - for example a sudden spurt in sales that exhausts our stock of the current edition before we have had time to print a fresh edition. Or author illness that prevents a book being updated as urgently as we might have wished. Then there are books that have sold so slowly that when the stock eventually does sell out, it is not worth the heavy cost of producing a new edition which may take two years or more to recover the substantial outlay on printing costs. In most instances, however, rather than see a book become totally unavailable, we offer it in pdf form and we continue to add any update information we receive to the relevant update page on this web site.

Note that Amazon.co.uk is often able to supply copies of out-of-print titles. They also normally continue to stock the previous edition after a new edition is published. When ordering via Amazon, be careful to check that you are on their page for the correct edition you require.
