Key features of the Landscapes series

Published in a handy size that fits in your pocket (8 1/4in x 4in – 210mm x 100mm), with laminated flexi-covers and strong sewn binding for durability, the books feature:

detailed descriptions of walks for all ages and abilities (from half-hour strolls to full-day hikes), taking in the most beautiful landscapes, sites and villages
large-scale walking maps (at least 1:50,000). The walking maps in our books are sometimes the only detailed walking maps obtainable from any published source and we take great care to make them as reliable as possible.
picnic suggestions (off the beaten track, but still within easy reach of main roads)
suggestions for car tours, highlighting not only all tourist attractions en route, but nearby walks and picnic spots
a fold-out touring map for motorists, pinpointing the locations of all the walks
town plans, with special emphasis on exit roads for motorists and bus/train/ferry departure points for walkers
timetables for relevant public transport (buses, trains, ferries)
colour photographs of every walk and tour
hints on weather conditions, where to stay and what you need to take with you if you plan to walk
but no details about hotels, restaurants or any of the information that is found in standard guide books or can be obtained free from local tourist offices.

NOTE: throughout this web site, for each title we list the number of walks, car tours and picnics in the book. Please be aware that the number of walks shown includes any optional shorter versions of the main walks the author may have included, also any alternative routes which provide a variant of the main walk.
