Links to useful sites and remember you are welcome to provide a link to us (http://www.sunflowerbooks.co.uk) from your own site This is a page to which we invite Landscapers to contribute suggestions. If there is a site which you've found to be especially useful in planning a holiday in one of Sunflower's destinations or which you feel will be of especial interest to other users of the series, please send us your suggestions. (But please take care in keying the names of other sites - remember it only needs one incorrect character for a link not to work!) Note that there are many additional links throughout the website as appropriate to each page. Maps Every Landscapes guidebook contains large-scale walking maps of the specific areas covered by each walk described in the book. We are sometimes asked whether we can supply walking maps of an entire destination (for example, say, a map of the whole of the island of Madeira). However, Sunflower only supplies books and neither publishes nor sells maps. If you require maps we can thoroughly recommend either of the following, all of whom offer mail order. Click on either name for a link to the corresponding web site: Stanfords (London, Manchester and Bristol) The Map Shop (Upton upon Severn) Tyndall Maps Island Walking If you like walking on islands, whether it be the Greek islands, the Balearics or the Canaries or elsewhere, do have a look at this very attractive web site which has a lot of valuable information ranging from recommended hotels and restaurants to equipment, book reviews and ferries. Click here to visit the site. We recommend another site for these five islands (all available as Sunflower Landscape guides). Click the links below to visit the related pages, from where you can choose to see a huge selection of photographs and gain further information on each destination. Crete Cyprus Samos Gran Canaria Fuerteventura Lanzarote Lesvos Paxos Tenerife (and all the Canary Islands) Find information about every aspect of holidaying in the Canaries at this varied site - click here. Slovenia Useful information and details of where to stay can be found at www.slovenedream.com/index.htm
Greece (Peloponnese), Pyrenees, Sicily and Slovenia This site is a personal diary of travels through Greece (including the Peloponnese), the Pyrenees, Sicily and Slovenia. Landscapers planning to visit either of these destinations may pick up some useful observations from Sheila and Paul's descriptions of their journeys. They have used Landscapes guidebooks in the destinations they have visited. Click here to visit their site. Algarve Find a lot of additional walks in the Algarve (with some information about eating out in the Albufeira area and with plentry of photographs) by clicking here On Foot Holidays This site specialises in holidays for walkers who want to walk independently but with assistance in discovering routes, the supply of route maps, the transport of luggage between stopovers and the choice of accommodation - usually in small hotels, farms or pensions - authentic and real hospitality which it can be difficult to find on your own. They feature several destinations which match Sunflower Landscapes titles, including Andalucia, Croatia, Northern Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Turkey. Click here to visit their site. Jersey Jersey Walk Adventures is a company specialising in guided walks out into the Inter tidal zone to Seymour and Icho towers. These are about 1.5mile offshore and in the UNESCO designated Ramsar wetlands site. Jersey has some of the highest tides in the world so this is a unique opportunity literally to take a walk on the sea bed. They also run guided sea kayaking tours around the island's coastline.
