'What a great little book. We visited Israel in August and although temperatures were 100° plus every day, we walked several routes. They took us a bit longer than stated, but that was to be expected. Walk 9 was excellent, but quite popular.
Walk 12 was wonderful and deserted.
Walk 20:You are no longer allowed to swim at Ein Avdat.
Car tour 3:
Avdat National Park is a must. Masada is too touristic
and lacks atmosphere. We telephoned to Ravi Hamond (page 90) and
booked into the B&B at Bet Jann. We were treated wonderfully
well. Accommodation was basic, clean and breakfast good. Here
are a couple of points for future editions:
1) All Israeli water is drinkable, and you don't have to buy bottled.
All water points at car parks are free and usually the water is
cooled by small generators.
2) The Kibbutz organisation is brilliant. Cleap, spotlessley clean
and welcoming. We stayed in three:Menava (north Galilee), Ein
Gedi (Dead Sea) and Mashabei Sade (Negev). All easy to book ahead
by fax:9720305278088.
We had a wonderful holiday.' (User, 1/99)
'I hired a car for part of my time and came to rely heavily on your book. It was incredibly informative and helpful. It gave me access to sights and experiences that I would have otherwise passed by. It was particularly helpful driving up from the Jordan into the Golan and around the north. Your tip about getting down to the Jordan taking an unmarked rough road worked perfectly.' (User, 6/00)
