TRANSPORT
Please add a note to the effect that frequency of buses is very much determined by the season of the year; for example Ribcev Laz to Hotel Zlatorog only runs 16 times/day in the months of July and August. It is vital to know this when planning a holiday, not when you arrive at Bohinj. (User, 7/05)

Walks 3/4: a bus runs at 10.00 to Vintgar. It's a pleasant lane walk to Krnica, to do Walk 3. Buses from Krnica are at 40 min past the hour. (e-mail, 8/05)

Walk 2: At the 3h18min-point, when the Short walk rejoins the main walk, there is a new road being built that connects to a water treatment works or new reservoir. It is a difficult scramble to reach the new asphalt road, as the road makers have dumpled large boulders at its edge. The original track is lost, and no new signs have been put in place. However, if you follow this new road up to the right you will find the original track bearing left into the woods after about 91 metres. (User, 11/06) + After 58 min. You cross the bridge and turn right. Then you should ignore the first path on the left. Then you keep the field on your left hand and ignore two paths to the right. (User, 12/07)

Walk 3: The Pokjuska Soteska is officially closed, according to a notice in the car park at the start of the walk. There are no problems on the walk as far as the junction where you can go to the cave Pokluska Luknja, but after that it becomes more difficult and dangerous. There are many fallen trees which turn the path into an obstacle course and no guarantee that the boardwalk through the narrow part of the gorge is safe. (User, 6/07) [Editor comments: The writer does not say, but it would seem that the walk is closed due to storm damage and will eventually be repaired.] + POKLJUSKA SOTESKA is still closed due to the huge number of fallen trees. We did manage to do the walk, but we were advised later that we should have had hard hats, as there is a definite possibility that we could have been hit by falling rocks! Not for the faint-hearted! (User, 9/07)

Walk 4: Readers should know that the path through the Vintgar Gorge (1h07m to 1h32m) is closed during the Winter. Unfortunately I am unable to tell readers exactly when it closes for the year, but it appears to re-open on April 27th each year (it's a public holiday in Slovenia.) My partner and I tried to do the walk just before this date and were not best pleased to find that the path through the gorge was barred by a number of barriers. Fortunately, the women who usually occupies the ticket office wa stocking the cafe and was able to tell is that it was OK to climb over the barriers. There were barriers fixed to the walk way at several points along the route, some of them quite high for a short person such as myself to climb over!! We did manage to walk through the gorge OK, but the walkways were still under repair. Several lengths had clearly been completely replaced and had we tried to walk the path while they were being done we would have had to turn back. Walkers could easily cut out the the gorge form the walk during the winter by walking down the road from Zasip to Podhom, but frankly this would skip the best bit of the walk. (User, 05/06)

Walk 8, end: The GOSTLINA FRIDA is no longer there, so it would be better to say : After the small shopping complex turn left up the road and take the first right towards the bus station. Look for the PENZION LIPA on the right and then take the next road left to the town center. (User, 12/06)

Walk 9, start: The GOSTLINA FRIDA has gone and more building has blocked the access:
At the bottom of the street you reach a T-junction. Here you turn left and approximately 50 metres further on, turn right. You must then walk past the KAVARNA SLASCICARNA and turn left down beside it to regain the track . (User, 12/06)

Walk 18:
after 53 min. When you have been at the two points of view, go back a little bit, as far as the fork, and then take the path to the right which climbs. (User, 12/07)

Walk 20: There are 2 paths on the south side of Lake Bohinjsko; one is a cycle track by the road, the other is up the hill fom the ski lift to the corner of the road in Ribcev Las, as marked on your map. (e-mail, 8/05)

Walk 22: Great care is needed at the point SLONCEK. After going off the path to look at the arch in the river it is all too easy to follow the river bank instead of returning to the main path. If you do not return to the main path, two small bridges come into sight just above SLONCEK. These two bridges and another wider one above them, can easily be mistaken for the BRIDGE a the 32min-point. The wide bridge(32min) is much further on, and if these earlier bridges are crossed in error, nothing makes sense. I would like to suggest that these two small bridges and the additional wide one are marked on your map so that they are ignored. Additionally in the text please add "after looking at the arch take care to return to the main path, do not cross the river at any of the three bridges (two small, one wider) immediatedly above the SLONCEK." (User, 7/05) + After you have crossed the Hudicev Most (a stone bridge, 12 min.) you go to the right. When you want to follow the Mostnica Korita go, when you are standing in front of the information board, down to the right. (User, 12/07)

Walk 23: In general: a nice walk, but it was often hard to find the route and it was difficult to go down the Rudnica ÖRUDNICA; after 6 minutes you reach a small hut at an open place. Go further on the small path that crosses the open field. Then take the path that goes left and down, and keep right at the next fork. At Rudnica (1h31min.) it is not easy to find the red spots to find the path down. It is very steep! From Studor we took the path, a dotted line on the map in the book, to Ribcev Laz instead of the road with the cars. It is much nicer! (User, 12/07)

Walk 24: This walk has really been totally ruined by the levelling of the area for skiing and lifts. It looks like a building site. Hopefully in a few years nature will have reclaimed the man made destruction, nevertheless there are some lovely flowers to be seen at the edges.
I would like to suggest that a warning is added to the text telling walkers to expect a building site. (User, 7/05) + Your estimate of height gain is far too low; it's over 500m to Vogel itself. The path marked by a dotted line about 100m south of the dusty road is much nicer. (e-mail, 8/05)

Walk 29: We were disappointed to find that on the walk from Skocjan Caves Visitor Centre there was not a lovely, wide, slowly flowing river, but several stagnant pools, and the diving board was broken and unsafe. The river had several concrete dams there which seemed quite recent and may have been the cause. Certainly one would not want to swim there, and it was disappointing for the children after the very hot walk there. (User, 8/07)
